Web and Platform Development for Switzerland

Five production platforms for Swiss clients — a cloud multi-tenant POS, an AI salon system, a legal platform, an e-learning platform and a software house. Switzerland is where my heaviest engineering work lives.

Switzerland is where my most demanding work sits: five production platforms, including Kassenta, a cloud multi-tenant point-of-sale system, and Klipp, an AI-assisted salon management platform. These are not brochure sites. They are systems with tenants, roles, billing and uptime expectations, and Switzerland is a market that notices the difference.

TWINT is the payment method, and foreign builds keep forgetting it

TWINT is the dominant Swiss mobile payment method, with millions of active users, and it is what Swiss consumers reach for by default. A checkout that offers only international cards reads immediately as something built for somewhere else. This is the single most common tell of an outsourced Swiss site.

The QR-bill replaced payment slips completely, and invoicing systems must emit it

Since October 2022 the QR-bill has fully replaced the old orange and red payment slips. A Swiss invoice now carries a Swiss QR Code with a structured reference in ISO 20022 form. If your system issues invoices to Swiss customers and cannot produce a compliant QR-bill, your customers cannot pay you the way they expect to pay. This is a concrete, testable requirement, and it is where generic international billing modules fail.

Switzerland is not in the EU, and its data law is its own

The revised Federal Act on Data Protection came into force on 1 September 2023. It is aligned with GDPR in spirit but distinct in detail: foreign controllers processing Swiss personal data may need a Swiss representative, and the penalty regime is unusual in that fines fall on responsible individuals rather than only on companies. Copying a GDPR privacy page and changing the country name is not compliance.

Multilingual means three or four languages, not two

German, French and Italian are national languages, and English is common in business. A Swiss product routinely ships in three or four. That is an architectural decision about how translations, routing, hreflang and content workflow are structured, and it is far cheaper decided at the start than discovered in month four.

Swiss multi-tenant SaaS dashboard with TWINT payment and QR-bill invoicing

What you get

TWINT at checkout alongside cards, because Swiss customers expect it and notice its absence
Swiss QR-bill generation with structured ISO 20022 references, tested against real bank ingestion
revFADP-aware data handling, including the Swiss representative question if you are controlling from abroad
Three- or four-language architecture decided up front: routing, translation workflow and hreflang
Multi-tenant architecture where the product needs it — I have built and shipped exactly this for a Swiss client
VAT at the current Swiss rate held in configuration, since it moved in January 2024 and can move again
Swiss or EU data residency with a documented answer on where every category of data lives
Engineering documentation at the standard the market expects, not a README written on the last day

Why work with me

Five Swiss platforms in production. Kassenta, a cloud multi-tenant POS. Klipp, an AI-assisted salon management system. Aman Law, a legal platform. Swiss Bridge Academy, an e-learning platform. Barmagly, a Swiss-licensed software house. All listed on this site with their stacks.

Multi-tenant is not a word I am borrowing. I have designed tenant isolation, per-tenant configuration and shared-schema billing for a Swiss client and run it in production. If your product needs that shape, we can start from experience rather than from a diagram.

I know where foreign builds fail here. Missing TWINT, an invoice that cannot produce a QR-bill, a GDPR page pretending to be a Swiss one, and a two-language site in a four-language country. All four are avoidable and all four are common.

Senior work at a rate Switzerland cannot match locally, in your working day. Cairo is one hour ahead of Swiss time. You own the repository and there is no lock-in after delivery.

FAQ

Questions before you hire

Have you built for Swiss clients before?
Five production platforms, all listed on this site: a cloud multi-tenant POS, an AI-assisted salon management system, a legal platform, an e-learning platform and a software house. Switzerland carries my heaviest engineering work, not my simplest.
Do I really need TWINT?
If you sell to Swiss consumers, effectively yes. It is the default payment method here and its absence is the clearest signal that a site was built for another market. For B2B invoicing the answer is different — there the QR-bill matters more than the wallet.
What is the QR-bill and why does it keep coming up?
Since October 2022 it has fully replaced the old payment slips. A Swiss invoice carries a Swiss QR Code with a structured ISO 20022 reference that the payer scans and the bank reconciles automatically. If your billing system cannot produce one, your Swiss customers cannot pay you the normal way, and your reconciliation becomes manual.
Does GDPR compliance cover me in Switzerland?
Partly, but not automatically. The revised Swiss data protection act has been in force since September 2023 and differs in detail — notably the possible requirement for a Swiss representative if you control data from abroad, and a penalty regime that targets responsible individuals. Treat it as a separate review, not a copied page.
How many languages should the site be in?
Usually three or four: German, French, Italian and often English. The important part is deciding early, because retrofitting multilingual routing, translation workflow and hreflang into a single-language build is one of the more expensive changes you can make.
Where should the data be hosted?
Switzerland or the EU for most cases, and you should be able to say which for every category of data you hold. Some sectors and some enterprise contracts require Swiss residency specifically; raise it at the start and it becomes a design input instead of a renegotiation.
